Denise Dirks

At Lane Community College, Denise was one of five of the original dance members and the first business manager for Lane Dance Theatre . Denise graduated from University of Oregon in 1985 with a BA in International Studies. During her law school studies she received prestigious recognitions and positions as a Recipient of the Gary Schaber Scholarship 1988; as one of the first Staff Writers for Transnational Lawyer, 1987–1988; as the Election Chari 1988-1989; and served as the only Law Student Representative on the International Law and Practice Section of the American Bar Association 1988-1989. She also achieved her Certification in East/West Commerce Law, Comparative Advocacy and International Legal Studies. She graduated from UOP McGeorge School of Law with a JD and was admitted to practice law in California in 1989.

She was admitted and qualified to practice before all courts in California including the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California. Initially, Denise practiced civil litigation, business and bankruptcy law. She also defended families involved in recovered memories and achieved nationwide recognition as the first in the nation to successfully defend and obtain a judgment against a plaintiff in such a case. She decided to open her own firm in 1996, where she serves most of Northern California in family related matters. She was admitted and qualified to practice as an attorney and counselor before the United States Supreme Court on August 25, 2008.

 

Denise maintains memberships in Sacramento, Placer, and Santa Clara County Bar and State Bar Associations. During her law career she has served as a Judge for California and Nevada Lions Student Speaker Program; was a Peer Court Mentor Attorney and Judge for Placer County Peer Court; has been a Court Appointed Minor’s Counsel in Sacramento County; was the Chair for the Steering Committee to form a temporary judge program to serve in family law settlement conferences and to start a Family Law Section of the Placer County Bar Association; and , she has served the Family Law Section as Honorary Past Chair, Past Chair, Chair and Vice Chair. She also serves as a Temporary Judge in Placer, Sacramento and Santa Clara Counties. Currently, Denise is the owner and operator of three businesses.
